Unique opportunity to join the building management team at the First Hawaiian Center. You will be responsible for the electrical, electronic and mechanical systems of the First Hawaiian Center. You will also be responsible for overseeing the landscaping, water features and various exotic stones of the premises.

Qualifications:

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 10 years of building engineering experience and at least 2 years of supervisor experience, as well as a minimum of 5 years of experience with the operation and maintenance of an electrial/electornically controlled building. Training and experience in assisting in the assembly, installation or operation of equipment, instruments or facilities essential. Must have prior training and/or on the job experience in basic computer operation. The ability to read drawings and schematics, as well as the ability to be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including all holidays, is a must.

Energy ACT 2005

Developed over four years, and over 1,700 pages long, the recently signed Energy Policy Act of 2005 extends previous Congressional direction to facility managers with even greater goals of energy efficiency improvements in existing and new facilities, increased use of renewable energy sources, advanced utility metering, and procurement of energy efficient equipment in all applicable contracts. This legislation is brand new and contains energy efficiency tax credits and new ways to retain savings. It changes the face of the energy business in both public and private sectors throughout the country.

LANDSCAPING

Ko‘oloa ‘ula—Landscape to Lei!

Few native Hawaiian shrubs combine the beauty of both foliage and flowers.  An exception is ko‘oloa ‘ula (Abutilon menziesii), sometimes called the “red ‘ilima.” While the Hawaiian name ‘ula suggests red flowers, there are actually several color forms ranging from red to burgundy, and pink to creamy-yellow.  But all share the same characteristic silky, heart-shaped silver-green leaves.  There are fewer than 500 of these endangered plants remaining in the remnant dry lands of O‘ahu, Lāna‘i, Maui, and Hawai‘i.  Fortunately though they are readily available at local nurseries.  Ko‘oloa ‘ula is one of the four native abutilons found in the

Hawaiian Islands

and the one most commonly seen in our landscapes.  This smaller-flowered cousin of the hibiscus has gained popularity over the years with its pleasant appearance and ease of culture.

FIX MY PROBLEM

A condo owner arrives back home after five weeks and finds his living room ceiling has fallen into the floor of the room. The chill water pipes turn above his space at a ninety degree turn and go across the floor and then down to the chiller room. the lagging is dripping and the engineer is called. the lagging is deteriorated and is leaking from a floor above and the chase is buried in every wall to the 30th floor.
